It's not uncommon to feel lost when you start a new job. Sometimes you may wonder how everyone around you knows so much. They use terms and reference things you've never heard before. Your head spins because there is so much to learn.

Feeling lost in a new gig is a common feeling. Ask for help. Read up on the organization and business. Immerse yourself in everything they do. Meet coworkers for lunch. Get to know them on a personal and professional level. Ask what they are working on. Show interest in learning as much as possible.

Over time it will become more clear. They say on average it takes a full year to grasp a new job. If you are feeling lost, don't be discouraged. Eventually you will figure it. When that day comes make sure you recognize the ones first starting out. Lend them a hand in becoming unlost.
